Please do not repost!
Hello lolirockers,
I absolutely love the fandom and one of the reasons I do is because it has been a very postive environment! My gifs always would get reblogged with only nice comments. That’s why I love making gifs for this fandom, but if everyone starts stealing other peoples gifs then that would really ruin the good mood in this fandom.
Please consider that when you are reposting a gif, edit or drawing without asking, you are practically stealing it by claiming it as your own.
People put a lot of effort into making these things just to share them with you, so please don’t repost. This is actually one of the few fandoms where I don’t have to put watermarks on my gifs so it would be a shame if I had to do that because people would start reposting them as their own without giving credit.
Please remember that there is the “insert gif” option that makes you post gifs made by others while still properly crediting them:

Also, if it’s already been posted to tumblr, reblog it. If you’re reposting from a different website properly credit the artist and if possible, ask permission to repost it. There is nothing worse than seeing your hard work get reposted and passed off as someone else’s.
(I started putting watermarks on some of my stuff for this reason. I hate doing it but until people learn to properly credit… >_>)
edit: While we’re at it, can we stop watermarking official/concept arts? Ive seen things posted by the official lr team watermarked with personal names.
Hi, as the team, we can only support what the persons above are saying.
Yeah crediting the artists is always very important. :)
No one will get mad at you for using another’s work for inspiration, or for sharing what you love (except for copyright infringement of course).
But claiming another person’s work as your own only because you altered it a little (or even not at all) isn’t fair or nice : you have to credit your source (original picture / fanart / episode / show / etc).
We admit it always bugged us when we post some artworks or backgrounds, and find them one hour later on another website, cropped without logo, colors a little changed (saturation or colors), with a big watermark on it, and of course no link toward us…
Stealing really hurt artists, so if you like their work, you should act accordingly for not hurting them : credit them, for they created it.
Thanks for taking that into consideration. And thanks @bleubudgie and @princessetalia for talking about this topic, and defending our work, be it official, or fanmade. :)
